Position Summary:
The Policy Associate contributes to America’s Essential Hospitals’ advocacy efforts by coordinating policy team activities and implementing initiatives to educate and engage member hospitals on federal and state policy efforts. The Policy Associate is a vital part of the Policy team that turns ideas into action, driving the development of an innovative policy agenda that has a meaningful impact on our community.
The Policy Associate enjoys a hybrid schedule, coming to the office on Tuesdays and as needed for internal and external meetings, events, or projects. The projected salary range for the Policy Associate is $65,000-$75,000 per year.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIES of the POLICY ASSOCIATE:

- Conduct thorough research on and carefully monitor various federal regulatory and state-level policy developments, to include:
- Monitoring Federal Register and Office of Management and Budget’s Regulatory Review Dashboard
- Tracking policy topics through agency communications, trade press, and stakeholder publications
- Providing summaries, as assigned
- Engage in member education efforts, including:
- Participating in department webinars (processing and responding to member questions and requests)
- Drafting web content and advocacy materials
- Participate in advocacy engagement and policy data analysis, including:
- Producing advocacy materials, including but not limited to issue briefs, formal letters, and presentations
- Researching policy issues
- Supporting policy and advocacy teams with quantitative analysis
- Serve as project coordinator for Policy Committee, including:
- Coordinating project plans and communications
- Developing preparatory materials for committee calls and meetings
- Participating at committee events and draft meeting minutes
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE FOR THE POLICY ASSOCIATE:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of political/policy experience or master’s degree with relevant policy experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint)
- Project management and quantitative analysis experience
- Basic understanding of federal advocacy and US health care policy, exposure to state policy a plus

- Strong organizational and time management skills, with demonstrated ability to coordinate complex projects, prioritize assignments, meet tight deadlines, and regularly report on status.

- Desire to learn and develop professionally.
- Ability to commute to the association’s Washington, D.C. office.
