Position Overview:

As a Power Systems Engineer at EPE you will be responsible for developing and conducting computer modeling and analysis for transmission & distribution planning studies. You will have the opportunity to work with industry leaders as you grow and develop in your career and will take on increasing challenges are you’re ready.  This position can be hired at a Level II or III depending on where you are in your career development. 

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Perform power system impact studies including load flow, short circuit, and dynamic stability analysis.
  • Prepare reports, letters, one-line diagrams and transmission maps.
  • Process, generate and maintain data as required for other engineering related studies.
  • Take responsibility for the timely completion of projects assigned while meeting all project quality and budget objectives.
  • Identify training needs and present to the Engineering Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science (or higher) education in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in power systems.
  • 2+ years minimum experience in a power systems role depending on the level of position applied for.
  • Experience with PSS/E and PSLF is required. Level III engineers should also have experience with PowerGEM, TARA and Python.
  • Demonstrated technical capabilities and strong organizational and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and high standards for producing quality reports and work output.
  • Strong technical/report writing skills.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and general hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, this position may require long hours to meet job demands.
