Job Summary

Provides pre-surgery services to patients by coordinating testing, providing instructions and maintaining medical records. Administers pre-surgery care by obtaining blood and urine specimens. Performs clerical functions.

Job Requirements

Education and Work Experience:

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
  • Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
  • Experience in electrocardiogram (EKG): Preferred

Licenses/Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA certification: Required
  • Phlebotomy Certification: Preferred

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates patient testing, instruction and record keeping with Pre-surgery Orientation team.
  • Obtains blood specimens via venipuncture or capillary punctures. Obtains urine specimens and insures delivery.
  • Assists with answering phones, filing, and faxing. Enters patient information from computer systems.
  • Maintains and cleans supplies needed for laboratory procedures and electrocardiogram (ECG.)
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
