We are seeking an experienced resiliency professional to fill the position of Principal, Business Continuity Disaster Recovery. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the BC/DR Team in implementing robust business continuity, disaster recovery and Crisis Management strategies to uplift and refresh the BC/DR program and to ensure the organization's resilience in the face of disruptions. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, conducting BC/DR risk assessments, developing plans, performing/facilitating BC/DR testing/exercises, and continuous improvement efforts.

We are seeking an experienced resiliency professional to fill the position of Principal, Business Continuity Disaster Recovery. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the BC/DR Team in implementing robust business continuity, disaster recovery and Crisis Management strategies to uplift and refresh the BC/DR program and to ensure the organization's resilience in the face of disruptions. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, conducting BC/DR risk assessments, developing plans, performing/facilitating BC/DR testing/exercises, and continuous improvement efforts.
Responsibilities
- Support business partners in managing their business continuity and disaster recovery strategies in alignment with organization’s goals and adherence to BC/DR requirements.
- Follow the proactive and comprehensive approach to risk management set forth by leadership.
- Manage and maintain detailed business continuity and disaster recovery plans developed by the lines of business to reflect changes in the organization’s structure, operations and technology.
- Experience designing business and technology process maps outlining end-to-end business processes to reflect critical elements included in BC/DR recovery strategies.
- Conduct thorough vendor risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities and communicate results to the impacted business areas.
- Analyze and prioritize risks to inform leadership of mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate regular testing of business continuity plans to validate effectiveness.
- Conduct training sessions for employees to ensure awareness and readiness during a crisis.
- Execute incident response plan implementation with effective business partners to address immediate threats and minimize the impact.
- Coordinate with relevant teams to ensure a swift and effective response.
- Collaborate with IT, operations, risk management and other departments to ensure an integrated approach to business continuity and technical recovery.
- Collaborate with BC team leadership to foster and support a culture of resilience across the organization.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to business continuity plans procedures and recovery processes.
- Manage and report relevant Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery metrics used to assess and measure the effectiveness of business continuity plans and strategies.
- Monitor and report on key metrics and KPIs to evaluate the organization’s readiness and resilience.
- Manage metadata sources of BC/DR data and analyze business continuity metrics data to ensure accuracy in reporting and to provide insightful reports to senior management.
- Stay abreast of relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable requirements related to business continuity and disaster recovery.
- Align with BC team leadership to effectively manage communication plans to keep key stakeholders informed during a crisis.
- Coordinate communication efforts to manage internal and external perceptions.
- Work with BC team leadership to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of business continuity and disaster recovery efforts.
- Work with BC team leadership to Identify and implement enhancements to improve overall resilience.
- Review and assess business continuity and disaster recovery plans for 3rd-parties.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, risk management, business continuity/disaster recovery or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in business continuity, disaster recovery or risk management roles.
- CTPRP designation preferred.
- Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or equivalent experience a plus.
- Process flow mapping experience required.
- Experience conducting Vendor Continuity risk assessments.
- Financial services or Mortgage experience preferred.
- Proven experience in business continuity management, including design, development, implementation and evaluation of risk mitigation strategies for both business process and technology recovery.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and trends.
- Knowledge of relevant regulation, industry standards and best practices in business continuity planning.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication.
- Must be analytical, possess critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
