Job Summary

As a Principal Product Designer at Paycor, you will work closely with other product designers, software engineers, and product managers to create exceptional software products. You will be the spokesperson for our users and work with various teams to create a shared understanding of how those users interact with our products. You will lead initiatives that impact multiple products and require a clear vision for how our work affects each aspect of the user’s experience. You will develop simple, effective, usable user interface designs that meet our customers’ needs. You are a critical thinker, a strategic planner, and an effective collaborator. You want to share your passion for user-centered design with your teams through teaching, mentoring, and leading by example. You like to work hard and have fun doing it. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic plans for how best to solve complex problems that affect multiple products¬¬
  • Influence teams to make more efficient & more user-centered decisions
  • Advise teams about the best methods ways to conduct user research, validate design directions, ensure consistency across products, and work effectively within an Agile environment
  • Conduct extensive user research with clients and customers (e.g. observation and in-depth interviews)
  • Build sketches, wireframes, and prototypes with an eye for clean, uncluttered design that clearly communicate concepts to your teams, stakeholders, and users
  • Facilitate usability tests to rapidly improve and validate design decisions
  • Collaborate daily with cross-functional teams in order to build a shared understanding of user needs, software behaviors, and strategic goals
  • Mentor and teach Product Designers best practices for conducting research, performing usability studies, and creating designs

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, or related field
  • 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Extensive experience conducting UX research and usability tests, remotely and face-to-face
  • Proficiency with common UX tools for wireframing and prototyping (e.g. Sketch, InVision)
  • Understand current web and mobile design standards
  • Experience following Agile methodologies and working closely with Agile teams
  • A proven ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills along with a portfolio demonstrating your abilities

We also offer competitive compensation determined by each individual's relevant experience, skills, and education. We anticipate the base pay for this position to be between $85,540.00- 146,040.00. In addition to base pay, Paycor Associates are eligible for either a performance-based annual bonus or commission, depending on their position.
