Job Description

Tzumi Electronics is looking for a meticulous Print Production Artist. You must be experienced in the practices and procedures of setting up Adobe Illustrator and InDesign files for printers. You will be working in a collaborative studio environment with other print artists and creatives to ensure high-quality, on-schedule and flawless deliverables. Experience with print production, packaging and working with die lines is a must. Attention to detail not only as it pertains to printer files and design, but file-naming conventions and server organization is essential. Knowledge of Mechanical preparation for printing and strong communication skills to collaborate (electronically) with overseas factories are key components to this position—as well as communicating with factories through the lifecycle of projects.

As a detail-oriented print artist, you are responsible for the production of packaging mechanicals, displays and collateral materials. You need to be well organized and able to manage multiple projects at once. Attention to every detail is a must.

  • THIS IS AN IN-OFFICE POSITION**

Key Responsibilities

  • Create final mechanicals for all printed marketing materials, including retouched artwork, correct print-specific color specs, and dimensions
  • Maintain typesetting and typography standards
  • Provide Creative support as needed
  • Ability to problem-solve any issues in real time on tight schedules
  • Adhere to weekly production schedule
  • Actively participate in creative/production handoff meetings
  • Maintain responsibility for projects from creative hand-off through final delivery to factories for printing
  • Adhere to mechanical quality print standards
  • Ensure files are set up to Print Ink standards
  • Participate in the review of internal and external proofs
  • Maintain the integrity of the creative concept throughout the production process
  • Create mechanical mock-ups for proofing purposes
  • Adhere to naming and folder organization back-up procedures to ensure proper archiving of files/folders
  • Communicate with factories promptly and effectively through email, Monday.com

Qualifications:

  • Expert knowledge of different image, color, and file requirements for digital vs. print applications
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar position
  • Prepress/Printing experience is a must
  • Proficiency with workflow tools such as Microsoft Outlook and Teams
  • Expert knowledge of design software, including the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign), Figma, and others
  • Expertise in delivering final print-ready mechanicals for large format printing
  • Expertise in delivering digital assets (slicing and archiving), including marketing emails, website content, and social media
  • Strong design and typography sense to work closely with the creative teams supporting conceptual development
  • Strong working knowledge of various printing platforms and prepress techniques as well as digital delivery formats
  • Meticulous in file preparation for print
