JOB DIMENSIONS

- General purpose: Process/Production Engineer that is technical lead for process safety and the primary source for the development and implementation of a process safety program at the North American Arkema-ArrMaz facilities. Implement and execute Process/Production and Process Safety driven improvements and projects.

- Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday. Nights, weekends, and additional hours as required. This position requires manufacturing site presence to improve processes, production, and process safety culture.


ACTIVITIES

- Support plant compliance with safety and environmental related regulatory requirements including OSHA, PSM, RMP, as well as other company policies and programs.

- Responsible for development of effective PSM culture focusing on 14 elements of process safety.

- Actively participate in manufacturing process initiatives, providing process engineering & process safety expertise in the development of solutions and programs.

- Support the development and implementation of a Process Safety Management (PSM) program at the North American Arkema-ArrMaz facilities.

- Evaluate equipment and processes utilizing risk assessment tools/techniques to set priority for future PHA’s and PSM related efforts.

- Ensure Process Safety Information accurately created, revised, and managed.

- Develop and manage a system to maintain safety critical systems lists and testing frequencies.

- Work with project leads and corporate SME’s (subject matter experts) to ensure functional safety calculations are completed (SIL calculation) as needed.

- Facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHA’s).

- Identify, implement, and manage technical solutions to resolve PHA and process safety related action items.

- Develop, design, and implement projects to improve plant, processes, safety and reliability.

- Support and improve the Management of Change (MOC) process.

- Collaborate with maintenance and mechanical integrity team to ensure their programs are compliant with PSM requirements.

- Collaborate with Operations, engineering, and maintenance resources to ensure pre-start up safety reviews (PSSR’s) are completed and findings are addressed.

- Collaborate with operations to ensure standard operating procedures are compliant with PSM.

- Lead and educate team members on the importance of Process Safety.

- Train operations personnel and other staff in technical issues as it relates to process safety.

- Prompt reporting of near misses and other incidents in the EHS management system.

- Utilize computerized maintenance management system to input and track work orders.

- Be a leader in driving to a zero-injury and zero process safety event work culture.

- Some domestic travel required.


QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited University, Chemical Engineering degree preferred.

- 5-8 years of experience in a PSM program in a chemical or petrochemical environment.

- 3-5 years of experience in project management

- Experience facilitating PHA’s, required.

- Understanding of the LOPA methodology, preferred.

- Functional safety calculation (SIL calculation) and dispersion modeling experience, preferred.

- Experience in manufacturing facility chemistry, formulation development, & reactions.

- Experience working with chemical production personnel.

- Experience working in industrial chemical manufacturing facilities.

- Experience using PHAWorks, preferred.
