Production Chemist III

In this role as a Bio-Rad Production Chemist III, you will work in our Hercules, California location. You will work closely with Process Development Scientist to transfer established production procedures in a timely manner for product release. You are efficient, detail oriented and highly collaborative. As the Synthetic Chemist, you will follow cGMP procedures and SOP’s to manufacture polymer based products. You will maintain the Organic Production lab such as set up, equipment maintenance, and cleaning for all synthetic chemistry related processes for Operations.

  • You will contribute to our advanced science technology to improve quality of life by making organic molecules which enable our customers for a better cell research, better treatments, and patient outcomes.
  • Take ownership of the organic synthesis production in polymer chemistry with some lab reagents, consumables, and raw materials management and the lab organizing.
  • Improve production process with the ability of innovative thinking, execution, analysis and problem solving with a clear and concise communication of technical data.
  • Achieve data analysis and interpretation with your previous experiences in troubleshooting and usage of spectroscopic instrumentation including but not limited to: NMR, HPLC, mass spectrometry, fluorimeter, Quantum Yield spectrometer, FTIR, etc.
  • Contribute to our quality mission, cGMP practices, meeting customer and regulatory requirements by following policies, SOP and procedures.

What You Bring

  • You have a BS or MS in Synthetic Chemistry or the equivalent.
  • 3 to 5 years laboratory experience in designing, synthesizing, purifying and characterizing novel compounds and/or polymers.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in polymer synthetic transformations with the ability to organize, execute, present and interpret polymer synthesis steps in a timely manner for common laboratory procedures (extractions, distillations, anhydrous/inert conditions, chromatography etc.), also basic molecular biology techniques is a plus.
  • Track record of self-motivated design, execution and analysis of experiments on aggressive schedules in a rapidly changing environment. Capacity to thrive in a multidisciplinary setting while working alongside engineers, biologists, software developers and manufacturing professionals.
  • Experience with instrumentation, troubleshooting and data interpretation from modern analytical instruments including but not mimited to NMR, mass spectrometry, FTIR, HPLC, Quantum Yield, fluorimeter, etc.

Compensation: The estimated annual salary for this position is $82,000 to $112,800 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
