Production Scheduler
JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for creating daily extrusion and packaging schedules for the branch plant. The primary focus of this position is to optimize the weekly schedule to ensure the plant maintains performance output, waste, and service level objectives. Will use sound judgment and discretion in making timely scheduling decisions, including production planning and scheduling. Regularly attend operations meetings to drive collaboration with operations teams, to meet production schedule demand and collaborate in team-driven problem solving if disruption to the supply of raw materials or other production challenges.
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Coordinate production schedule based on customer demand, replenishment strategies and plant capacity.
Create daily extrusion and packaging schedules for the branch plant.
Manage all packaging, diet, protein, and WIP work orders within the SAGE ERP system.
Revise production schedule when required due to production changes, labor or ingredient shortages, backlogs, or other interruptions, collaborating with management, marketing, sales, production, or engineering.
Distribute production schedules or work orders to respective production facilities.
Work with cross-functional partners to support special plant production requests from customers i.e. shipper, display, or other promotional programs.
Responsible for scheduling master data (ie. Lead times, MOQ, routings, run rates, etc.)
Responsible for creating and maintaining a “play book” of all plant production rules such as change overs, equipment limitations, sequencing rules, etc.
Participate in inventory aging migration analysis.
Maintain a minimum of 2 weeks of firm work orders within the Sage ERP
Responsible for maintaining customer promise dates on all work orders within Sage erp.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Hold weekly scheduling meetings with assigned manufacturing locations to agree on the firm locked schedule for the next 2-week horizon.
Responsible for measuring plant adherence to 2-week locked schedule.
Create packaging schedules for plants using run rules.
Assume responsibility for own personal development and continuous learning.
Work cross functionally with plant production teams, commercial, engineering and R&D to schedule trials.
Keep abreast on new technology, methods and regulations related to responsibilities.
All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required).
Education level: Four-year degree. Supply Chain, Business, or Finance Degree preferred.
Experience: Two years in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.
Strong analytical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to make sound judgment and use discretion.
Work both collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to group goals.
Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner.
Write, speak, and present clearly across a variety of settings. Adjust communication style to articulation technical concepts to non-technical groups.
Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task.
Must be customer focused – both internal and external.
APICS Certification recommended, but not required.
