Main Purpose Of Job

The Manufacturing Supervisor is an equal member of the Value Stream leadership team including the Process Engineer, Quality Engineer and Planner whose main goal is to ship quality product while consistently reducing lead time and cost. The primary purpose of this job is to coordinate activities of production team members including product line(s) or production shift of significant size and volumes to ensure that production requirements, performance goals, and improvement objectives are achieved. Additionally may have accountabilities for special projects, research and analysis at a high level.

Job Responsibilities

  • Adheres to Viant’s Core Beliefs and all safety and quality requirements.
  • Provides direction in the resolution of technical and production-related problems to assure completion of weekly schedules that meet or exceed Company and Customer expectations.
  • Monitors the alignment of product or line(s) with master production schedule and material planning to meet production goals.
  • Monitors departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports.
  • Ensures work orders are closed in Oracle and data is accurate.
  • Ensures adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Supervises Associates (40+) in a manner that fosters a safe work environment and self-directed team approach.
  • Provides continuous communication to Plant management on production, facility and Associate accomplishments and/or concerns.
  • Identifies, arranges and/or provides training to ensure a safe, efficient, quality work environment with focus on continuous improvement through Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Facilitates communication, coordination and conflict resolution within and among work groups.
  • Provides leadership to Associates in all areas including: hiring, performance management, reviews, coaching, counseling and corrective actions.
  • Assists in the analysis of production and related processes and makes recommendations on improvements and organization of process improvement activity through the application of Six-Sigma & Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
  • Promotes an atmosphere of diversity, open communication and trust, affording opportunities for training and growth.
  • Remains flexible to the needs of the business and performs other functions as required.

Knowledge/Education

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Associates, Bachelor Degree in Operations/Engineering or Business preferred
  • Demonstrated product and assembly or machine shop experience and knowledge; minimum of 5+ years in a supervisory or lead role capacity
  • Demonstrated effective communication and leadership skills; strong ability to work cooperatively with others in a team-based environment and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing to deliver required business results

Job Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience in relevant manufacturing preferred

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Performs basic arithmetic calculations
  • Ability to work well independently and with fellow team members
  • Attention to detail and organization skills

Physical Requirements

  • Excellent vision and hand-eye coordination
  • Extended periods of bending, lifting, sitting and standing
  • Significant use of hands
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able and willing to wear personal protective equipment as required including: Protective eyewear, protective gowning (i.e: Hairnet, Safety Shoes covers, Gown/Apron, Safety Glasses, gloves)
  • Finger dexterity- the ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small components
