Job Summary
The Production Support Lead will be responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the buffer labs. This includes assigning work to production support techs that work day and night shifts, coordinating laboratory activities, generating metrics and reports, managing supply inventories, conducting in-process testing via gel or HPLC, and ensures that various requests from different departments (internal customers) are fulfilled in a timely manner. Additionally, it is expected that the team lead will regularly perform routine lab work.
The candidate will be a key member in our production team and work closely with purification, inventory control, purchasing and planning areas. The individual will be involved with learning multiple processes and testing methods. The desired candidate must be a team-player who is organized and has strong verbal and written communication skills and is able to work in a very fast paced environment. The candidate must also be able to multitask, work independently and meet deadlines.

Familiarity with working in an industry laboratory setting by practicing and modeling good documentation and laboratory practices at all times (GDP/GLP)
Familiarity with buffer and solution prep, including pH dependent buffers
Lead and/or participate on project teams to design, develop, and continuously improve safety, quality, product, equipment, fixtures, and/or processes
Operation of peristaltic pumps, pH meters, nephelometer, conductivity meter, and basic computing
Other duties as assigned
Problem Solving Functions
Respond to and/or resolve recurring processing issues
Develop and implement novel approaches to solving non-routine technical problems
Conduct investigations, demonstrate strong technical and problem-solving skills, and excellent technical writing skills
Assist with and perform investigations into process failures, NCRs, CAPAs, manufacturing issues, and document findings accordingly
Work with Quality Control to resolve quality issues from internal and external (raw material or OEM) supplier/vendors.
Educational/Managerial Functions
Support and provides training for manufacturing personnel on new processes and process improvements
Document and update work instructions and SOPs, as needed to maintain and improve the production line
Communicate information effectively through updates, reports, and summaries
Track and report key performance indicators including safety, output, yields, quality, lead times, back orders, and delays, improving them to meet goals
Minimum Qualifications – Education And Experience
High School diploma/GED with 2 years of biotechnology industry experience OR
Associate’s degree in Biotechnology, Life Science, or Biological Sciences
AND
1 year of direct experience in buffer making, operating pumps, and other small-medium sized laboratory equipment
1 year of experience with biotechnology-related manufacturing processes working under an ISO13485, GMP manufacturing environment, or similar standard (including GDP, GLP, and lab safety)
Preferred Qualifications – Education And Experience
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, engineering, or other relevant field with 1-2 years of biotechnology industry experience
3+ years of experience leading small (5-10 people) teams in a biotech manufacturing setting.
3+ years of ISO13485 or Lab GMP work experience
Experience designing, sourcing, selecting, installing, and qualifying liquid process handling equipment in order to facilitate process improvements
Experience drafting and revising SOP’s
Experience filing and investigating NC’s
Experience with continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma) methodologies such as DMAIC projects, visual management, value stream mapping, 5S, Kaizen, etc
The base salary range for this full-time position is $50,000 - 65,000. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that base pay is only one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company. This base pay range does not take into account bonuses, equity, or other benefits which may be applicable and are dependent on the level and position offered.
