Rex and Margaret Fortune School of Education is a comprehensive education system including, non-profit preschools, a network of tuition-free, public charter schools (TK-12th), and a school of education with a masters programs and educator preparations programs accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. in Sacramento/San Bernardino County. We prepare students for college starting in preschool Transitional Kindergarten in San Bernardino and Sacramento Counties and are focused on closing the African American achievement gap.

Job Summary: Under the guidance of the Dean, the Program Director will ensure the excellence and continuous improvement of Fortune School of Education’s credentialing programs. The Director will demonstrate strong leadership skills, a social justice orientation, and an asset-based approach to teaching and learning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include but are not limited to:


  • Developing and reviewing program curricula;
  • Engaging in recruitment initiatives;
  • Teaching a full load of courses and practicums per year;
  • Addressing student concerns while promoting a culture of academic excellence;
  • Coordinating Field Supervision;
  • Implementing the Faculty Evaluation protocol;
  • Directing the day-to-day activities of the program, including course schedules and instructor assignments;
  • Implementing Early Childhood Education Standards and Performance Assessments;
  • Participating in trainings and meetings organized by the California Commission for Teacher Credentialing (CCTC), Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE), and/or any outside agency that is relevant to program development and goals;
  • Contributing to the Department’s accreditation efforts;
  • Serving on committees and other Department or Organization-wide initiatives, as assigned by the Dean.




Qualifications: Required knowledge, skills & abilities:


  • Experience teaching in credentialing programs.
  • Experience with higher education.
  • Experience with curriculum development, implementation, and assessment.
  • Experience with accreditation.




Education and Experience:


  • Master’s degree in education from an accredited institution. An Earned Doctorate is preferred.
  • Track record of successful teaching and advising.
