Job Summary: The Project Connect Parent Educator provides home-based parent assessment, education, and supportive services to referred families. Conduct necessary assessments with the parents to determine areas where support and education is needed. Supervise visits as needed. Collaborate with the team on recommendations. Maintain client records and complete all necessary documentation within established program time frames. Participate in the family service planning process. Interact effectively and respectfully with others, particularly with individuals whose backgrounds and life experiences are different from one’s own.

- Receive referred cases from Project Connect workers. Provide home-based parent assessment, education, and supportive services to referred families.
- Co-lead structured parenting groups as scheduled. Work collaboratively with the co-facilitator to ensure that all paperwork is completed promptly, and all client information is shared with the assigned social worker.
- Maintain client records and complete all necessary documentation within established program time frames. Participate in the family service planning process.
- Provide linkage to appropriate community services.
- Contribute to the overall success and quality of the program and agency by working constructively and collaboratively with other staff members to address programmatic issues and agency-wide issues and needs. Meet regularly and as needed with co-workers to discuss case-related information.
- Constructively utilize formal and peer supervision weekly to evaluate and improve effectiveness in providing services to clients. This includes active participation in supervision, team meetings, and agency meetings.
- Pursue ongoing professional development through professional reading and attending relevant workshops and conferences (including Children’s Friend’s core training program).
- Actively participate on community task forces and agency committees as assigned, and in DCYF case consultation meetings as scheduled.
- Assist in publicizing agency programs and educating others about the agency and its services.
- Interact effectively and respectfully with others particularly with individuals whose backgrounds and life experiences are different from one’s own.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services with training and/or experience with parenting issues, substance abuse, and at-risk families.
- Proven ability to interact with members of the community representing diverse backgrounds and interests is required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance.
