Are you an experienced IT Project Manager? If so, the California Department of Justice is looking for you!


The Project Manager (IT Specialist I) will prepare, guide, and assist the project team in the planning activities required for the preparation of Project Approval Lifecycle deliverables, Special Project Reports, Post Implementation Evaluation Reports, Economic Analysis Worksheets and Financial Analysis Worksheets, applying knowledge and skills in alignment with project management concepts, principles, practices, and processes prescribed by the California Project Management Framework, Project Management Body of Knowledge, the California Project Approval Life Cycle, IT Systems Development Life Cycle standards, methodologies, processes and State IT policies.


Essential Duties:


  • Ensures that requirements are aligned with the project scope, objectives, and changes.
  • Manages requirements by documenting, tracing, baselining, and controlling the requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Elicits requirements from various sources, such as stakeholders, users, documents, existing systems, or market research, which includes asking the right questions, actively listening, observing behaviors, and facilitating workshops or interviews.
  • Creates requirement specifications or user stories.
  • Analyzes requirements by breaking down of complex problems, identifies dependencies and constraints, resolves conflicts, and prioritizes needs.
  • Validates requirements through review, verification, and validation of the requirements with the relevant parties, as well as conducts tests, prototypes, or simulations.


Desirable Qualifications:


  • Experience performing project management disciplines to plan and manage IT Projects leveraging the Project Approval Lifecycle, California Project Management Framework, and Project Management Body of Knowledge.
  • Experience with leading, coordinating, and organizing project planning sessions, documenting goals, objectives, and actions needed to accomplish assignments in an orderly and timely manner.
  • Proficient in MS Suite including Project, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Experience with Budget and Cost Recovery analysis.
  • Strong ability to reason logically, analyze situations, and reach sound conclusions.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and manage several projects concurrently.


Required Experience:


Four years of general information technology experience performing technical and/or analytical tasks for computer systems or services in any of the six domains or emerging information technology fields;


or


120 semester units (or 180 quarter units) from an accredited college or university including at least 15 semester units (or 22.5 quarter units) of information technology or closely related coursework; or


Any equivalent combination of experience and education.


This position is designated for telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California and will require reporting to headquarters or field offices and facilities to fulfill operational needs. While teleworking is a part of this position EXPECT TO WORK IN OFFICE more than half of your work hours.
