The Technical Project Manager is focused on client-facing projects. This role works closely with key client stakeholders and technical teams and is responsible for managing implementation, integration, and project delivery through defining and executing project plans, assisting in the staffing of resources, ensuring adherence to project scope, and communicating status.
By joining the Business Advisory Services team, you will be helping RubinBrown clients solve a wide range of challenges - from identifying requirements driven by increasing demands of business and technology to ensuring consistent and necessary guidance and support required to make every client project a success. Our goal is to oversee projects of all sizes that transform our client’s ways of working.
Major Responsibilities
Analyze, plan, and develop requirements and standards for technology projects
Facilitate technical project meetings with clients to keep them informed on milestones and overall project status
Determine and define clear deliverables, roles and responsibilities for project team members required for specific projects
Identify new opportunities and help creating proposals aimed at solving our client’s needs
Communicate with leadership and other stakeholders through regular reporting and progress meetings
Document and follow up on key actions and decisions from project meetings
Establish, maintain, and utilize tools and standards for portfolio and project management with a goal of delivering every project on time, within budget, and aligned with agreed upon scope
Bring thoughtful and relevant leadership mindset to every project and situation
Monitor project objectives and deadlines to ensure success
Manage established scope and proactively address changes
Prepare and present analysis, insights, an recommendations to support defined client project governance teams
Understand and utilize project management tools and methods; identify and contribute ideas for improving effectiveness and adoption
Actively identify opportunities to better serve our clients
Build meaningful relationships within and across RubinBrown practice areas and service lines
Preferred Experience/Background/Skills
5+ years of technology project management and consulting experience
Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in information technology, project management, or a technology related field
Experience managing technology projects and documenting processes
One or more professional qualifications in PMP, PMBOK, Agile, Lean, Six-Sigma through professional or academic institution or accreditation body
Ability to communicate technical solutions and ideas to non-technical audiences
Approximately 30%-35% domestic travel to client sites
Strong time management, self-motivation, and communication skills
Business process smart – not just technical skills, but able to effectively support project execution that is aligned with various types of technical projects that support business initiatives and objectives
Proficiency with using various software tools such as Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Smartsheet, Trello, Jira, etc.
Experience of one or more technology project management areas including, but not limited to customer / user Experience (CX/UX), cloud migration / integrations, enterprise software, data & analytics, emerging technologies, IoT, data backup and recovery, networking, end-user computing, server virtualization
Demonstrated track record of delivery within multiple small-to-large scale technology projects
Proven ability to take a ‘big picture’ delivery and project management view as well as being able to work at a detailed level across a broad range of technology engagements
