Responsibilities

Job Purpose

Pattern Energy is seeking an experienced Public Engagement Field Organizer - Consultant to support community engagement activities and stakeholder relations for Pattern’s SunZia Wind and Transmission project. The position is based in New Mexico or Arizona with significant travel across both states. The position is responsible for supporting and executing community engagement plans, fostering relationships, and engaging with local landowners and stakeholders, effectively communicating project construction updates, organizing events, and representing Pattern at community events. The role reports to SunZia’s Public Engagement Manager and works closely with Pattern’s External Affairs, Land, and Construction teams.

Key Accountabilities

  • Building relationships with Project landowners and other stakeholders.
  • Building relationships with community organizations and supporting SunZia’s Community Giving Program, identifying new organizations and causes that will positively impact communities in the project’s footprint.
  • Supporting and executing community engagement activities to steward relationships with landowners, community groups, and local stakeholders.
  • Helping to disseminate project information to stakeholders and pro-actively telling SunZia’s story.
  • Holding 1:1 meetings with landowners, stakeholders and local leaders.
  • Planning and executing Pattern-led events, meetings and community BBQs.
  • Attending public meetings and representing Pattern at community events like fairs, rodeos and conventions.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to identify and evaluate public engagement-related risks and opportunities and implementing tactics to mitigate them.

Qualifications

Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

  • Minimum of five years of experience in community relations, project management, community organizing, campaigns or other related areas.
  • Preference for experience in political and/or issue-based campaigns.
  • Experience and interest in renewable energy/environmental issues.
  • Strong relationship management skills and experience in stewarding stakeholders.
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders involved in complex projects.
  • Ability to effectively communicate project updates and pro-actively tell SunZia’s story
  • Valid transportation and willingness to travel across New Mexico and Arizona to meet landowners and stakeholders in-person and attend community events
  • Approximate weekly time commitment: 35-40 hours, primarily during standard workdays, with some evening and weekend hours required.

The expected pay range for this role is a monthly retainer of $6,000 - $9,000 USD per month. This is a contract position. All expenses associated with this position, including travel costs, will be fully reimbursed. 50% + travel required.
