Job Description: Quality Manager

  • Manage all aspects of Quality Assurance functions within the division, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 standards, customer specifications, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee Quality Assurance personnel, fostering a positive Quality culture and strong relations with production staff.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily safety practices, educate employees on safety protocols including forklift operator safety plans, emergency action plans, and accident reporting.
  • Maintain expertise in the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring adherence to ISO 9001:2008 standards, including management of quality policy manuals and non-conforming material controls.
  • Communicate Company Quality Policy and Quality Objectives across all divisional levels, aligning Quality Department strategies accordingly.
  • Orientate new employees on job descriptions and relevant training materials related to quality standards.
  • Supervise inspection and testing activities in the QA lab to maintain continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.
  • Assist in identifying gauging requirements and procuring new gauges as needed.
  • Manage disposition of non-conforming products through Nonconforming Material Reporting (NCMR).
  • Act as final authority on ISIR / PPAP submissions to customers and participate in Corrective and Preventive Action processes.
  • Support other department managers in achieving their quality objectives, ensuring familiarity with QMS master list and development of standards, work instructions, and testing methods.
  • Assist QA Manager and other departments with Continuous Improvement initiatives and Internal Audits.
  • Aid production leads in developing operators capable of ensuring part quality during production, providing guidance on work instructions and procedures.
  • Advise upper management on significant quality issues identified during quality activities.
  • Have decision authority over quality issues and discrepancies at the plant level, including approval of customer returns and associated costs.
  • Maintain proficiency in calibration processes for various equipment.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by reducing variability and achieving zero defects for products and services.
  • Conduct layouts and inspections using advanced techniques such as GD&T, Faro, and CMM.
  • Supervise training and development of quality technicians, overseeing use of specialized equipment.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

Non-Essential Duties

  • Participate in company initiatives, programs, events, and meetings for employee development.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily activities of Quality staff.
  • Evaluate performance, provide counseling, and support career advancement.
  • Assume supervisory duties in absence of management as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Experience: 5+ years in Quality Engineering/Technician discipline with supervisory experience.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in CAD, Microsoft Office, and SPC-based software.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: ISO 9001 auditor training.
  • Special Requirements: Strong skills in SPC, Advanced GD&T, Blueprint reading, PPAP submissions including FMEA and Control Plan creation. Knowledge of manufacturing processes (stamping, laser, CNC, press brake, welding). Excellent communication and multitasking abilities. Proficient in ISO 9001 QMS maintenance.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to handle objects, and communicate.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and color vision.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, airborne particles, chemicals, weather conditions, cold temperatures, and electrical hazards.
  • Moderate noise level; may encounter temperature and humidity extremes.
