The R&D Engineer builds, deploys, tests and support hydraulic fracturing operational systems in shop or field environments; designs, fabricates, and deploys prototype models of Research and Development (R&D) test technologies; and works closely with teams across the organization to improve existing processes.
Responsibilities
Build, deploy, test, and support hydraulic fracturing operational systems in shop or field environments
Design, fabricate, and deploy prototype models of R&D test technology
Work closely with Instrument and Electrical (I&E) Technicians, Engineering, Supply Chain, Reliability and Operations teams across the organization to improve existing processes
Ensure that work carried out by the R&D team aligns with the organization’s internal compliance policy and directives
Create technical reports (i.e., install manuals, case studies, educational reports, and business cost reports)
Collaborate with R&D team members to stay current on key industry innovations and technologies that can optimize organizational processes
Collaborate with relevant personnel to troubleshoot and resolve any issues as they arise
Identify work opportunities and prepare (or assist with the preparation of) technical proposals as needed
Support continuous improvement of the organization’s processes and products
Assist with inspecting, maintaining, and repairing equipment used in hydraulic fracturing operations
Stop work when unsafe work conditions are identified
Remain prepared to make regular visits to the field
Safely operate a company vehicle day or night, on various road types, and all weather conditions
Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and always utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Qualifications
Other duties as assigned 1 year experience in a similar role required
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical engineering or relevant field required
Maintaining a current, valid driver’s license and a clean driving record, required
Professional experience in product design, manufacturing, and production, preferred
Metal working skills, preferred
Must have knowledge of static mechanics and dynamics
Must have experience with Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Good written and verbal communication skills, able to effectively collaborate with a team and interact with personnel at all levels of the organization
Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills, able to gather, analyze, interpret, and report data
Able to operate in a fast-paced environment and troubleshoot complex issues quickly
Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills, able to successfully handle multiple priorities at once
Self-motivated, able to work independently and comfortable making routine decisions within scope of job requirements
Proficient working in Microsoft Office 365 applications and able to quickly learn other work-related software
Must be able to drive company vehicles over various type of road condition and terrain (i.e., highways, rural roads, paved surfaces, gravel surfaces, and off-road situations such as two track roads)
Must be physically able to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, crawl, walk on uneven surfaces, and climb equipment or stairs throughout work shift
Must be able to work indoors and outdoors with possible exposure to extreme weather conditions
Must be physically able to sit or stand for long periods
Can safely lift 10 LBS regularly and 40 LBS occasionally
Must be able to work in an environment that may include moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic chemicals, airborne particles, and moderate loud noise requiring consistent use of appropriate PPE
