Lincoln Prairie Behavioral Health Center invites applications for the position of Recreational Therapist. Reporting to the Chief Clinical Officer or designee, the Activity/Recreational Therapist is responsible for providing therapeutic, recreational and expressive therapy services to patients. The Activity/Recreational Therapist serves as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and supports the facility’s treatment program.
Additional Duties And Responsibilities Include
Develops and completes Activity Therapy assessments on all assigned cases.
Identifies patient needs; develops and coordinates the implementations of therapeutic programs in accordance with established guidelines.
Provides therapeutic recreation and expressive therapy groups as assigned according to the unit schedule.
Role models group facilitation skills, conducing group activities with deliberate therapeutic purpose.
Plans therapeutic groups and programs to meet assessed resident needs, as indicated in the Treatment Plan and prescribed by the Professional/Medical Staff.
Reviews residents’ progress with multidisciplinary team, and makes treatment recommendations.
Assesses residents to interpret strengths and weaknesses in the areas of leisure skills, socialization skills, cognitive abilities, motor development and physical condition.
Applies age-appropriate expressive therapy modalities to group or individual treatment.
Designs interventions which are relevant to the specific populations served.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Physical Therapy, Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Occupational Therapy or similar Expressive Therapy discipline.
Demonstrated knowledge of rehabilitation programs and planning.
Demonstrated experience providing rec therapy in either group or individual formats, in a behavioral health care facility, or similar setting.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Skill in the use of computer systems and software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel) preferred.
Must be able to handle multiple competing tasks, with minimum supervision, and take initiative on matters of revolving urgency.
CRTS preferred or ability to obtain CRTS within 16 months of hire.
