The company we are partnered with is a privately owned custom compound who have fantastic retention rate. The group has over $1Bn revenue annually, and is in a really exciting growth phase with this being one of the key hires.


This position is responsible for various product stewardship activities that support both external customers and internally the Product Development and Market Development engineering teams within the product technology department at a compounder of custom-engineered polyolefin plastic. These activities include providing regulatory information applicable to products along with new raw material screening for quality, physical property performance, and suitability for use. The role requires attention to detail, strong organization skills, and effective written and verbal communication skills to carry out a high volume of both technical and administrative tasks.


Job Summary

  • Perform all duties safely and in compliance with documentation outlined in the Safety, Health & Environmental Handbook and defined Quality Management Systems.
  • Author Regulatory Datasheets (RDS) and stay current on updates to restricted substance legislation and standards. Examples of applicable regulations are REACH, RoHS, Prop 65, Conflict Minerals, TSCA, and many others.
  • Generate Material Datasheets (MDS) in the International Material Data System (IMDS) for automotive customers.
  • Respond to data and documentation requests by internal customers such as Customer Service, Laboratories, Quality Management, Technical Service, Product Management, Safety, Purchasing, and others.
  • Provide timely responses to external customer inquiries to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Author various Trade Compliance certificates such as general Certificate of Origin, USMCA (formerly NAFTA), AALA, BABA, and others.
  • Carry out the New Material Review process to test and screen new raw materials such as polyolefin resins, reinforcing agents and fillers, elastomers and impact modifiers, and additives. Analyze the physical property and analytical composition data, organize the results in a presentable format and make recommendations to the Product Development and Purchasing teams on adoption of the new raw material.
  • Meet with suppliers of raw materials and share feedback on new raw material qualifications.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as directed by manager.


Job requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in engineering, a physical science, mathematics, or other field that complements product stewardship responsibilities.
  • 5 years of experience in a role related to product stewardship, preferably in plastics or a material manufacturing industry.
  • Competency in statistical data analysis, preferably with software proficiency in Minitab or a similar statistical analysis software.
  • Preference for an applicant with Structured Query Language (SQL) data query and pivot table experience.


Working Conditions:
