HireArt is helping Toyota Research Institute hire a Research Assistant to support the execution and analysis of human-centered research studies.
We’re looking for someone with experience managing and analyzing quantitative data using Python, MATLAB, Simulink, or similar. You’ll also have a degree in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Psychology or a similar field emphasizing human performance and behavior.
As a Research Assistant, You'll
Assist with user testing preparation activities (e.g., coordinating with recruiters and writing study protocols).
Administer user questionnaires, surveys, and interviews.
Collect, analyze, and interpret user study data to generate insights, recommendations, and reports.
Assist with physical tasks involved in running studies (driving simulator operation, prototype transportation, etc.).
Conduct literature reviews and competitive analyses.
Collate and archive user information and data.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience) in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Psychology, or similar
Experience managing and analyzing quantitative data using Python, MATLAB, Simulink, or similar
Experience in a research lab setting–academic is fine–including proctoring your own user studies
Friendly, empathetic, and patient disposition when working with older adults
Strong oral and written communication skills and comfortable giving/receiving feedback
Nice-to-have Experience
Master’s degree in a relevant field
Professional lab experience, preferably in the robotics or autonomous vehicles industries
Experience generating categories from qualitative data and performing coding

Commitment:Commitment:This is a full-time,12-month contract position through HireArt, with the possibility for shorter periods if requested, or extensions to additional years. It will be available to candidates who are local to the Cambridge/Boston, MA area.
