General Summary/ Overview Statement
The Center of Healthcare Delivery Sciences (C4HDS), www.c4hds.org , is an academic research center in the Division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomics at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The Center’s activities research uses techniques from behavioral science, implementation research and data science to design and test solutions to improve medication prescribing and long-term adherence for conditions such as heart disease and diabetes. Unlike typical research groups, the Center’s work involves close collaborations between academic researchers and groups that deliver care, administer health insurance benefits and/or develop technologies to improve care. The Center’s largest projects involve “real world” randomized trials that seek identify scalable strategies for changing medication-related behaviors.
C4HDS is looking for a Research Assistant to join its team. This is a unique opportunity for individuals interested in joining a robust academic research Center focused on designing and testing cutting edge care delivery models to improve care and change health care delivery. The C4HDS Research Assistant will report directly to the Center’s Senior Program Manager, Kaitlin Hanken, and its faculty leadership, including C4HDS Executive Director, Dr. Niteesh Choudhry and Associate Director, Dr. Julie Lauffenburger. This individual will be involved in preparation, implementation and coordination of research in addition to tasks related to organizational growth of the Center. A portion of the research at C4HDS is clinical and although work is primarily conducted in an office setting, this position does require patient interaction. Research Assistants typically spend 2-3 years with C4HDS before starting graduate studies or medical school to gain research and healthcare experience.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
The Research Assistant’s duties are a combination of research and operational tasks. Research tasks include, but are not limited to the following:
Qualifications
BA/BS required. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities, think independently while at the same time demonstrate strong communication skills and an ability to work as a productive member of a team are important for this role. Competency with MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint is required; basic familiarity with R, SAS, or statistical software would also be helpful. Prior social science or medical research experience is preferred, and epidemiology and/or statistics exposure is a plus. A strong applicant will display the ability to communicate with multiple levels of staff and work effectively with others in a team environment.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities
The Research Assistant’s duties are a combination of research and operational tasks. Research tasks include, but are not limited to the following:
- Development and implementation of clinical research studies in collaboration with the Center’s faculty, fellows and administrative staff
- Recruitment and enrollment of study participants
- Collecting and reporting data related to study protocols
- Assist in manuscript preparation and submission to academic journals.
- Prepare reports that track project progress.
- Perform literature searches and syntheses.
- Submit IRB protocols and amendments; maintain regulatory binders.
- Assist Center faculty and leadership in planning, scheduling and implementation of day to day activities related to the Center’s growth and research initiatives. These include a variety of project and office management elements (scheduling, website, and mailing list support).
- Data management and manipulation (MS Excel, statistical software).
- Organize project meetings and records and distribute meeting minutes to the involved parties.
- Coordinate administrative tasks between investigators, ancillary departments, sponsoring organizations and regulatory bodies, including ClinicalTrials.gov records.
