The Florida Center for Advanced Aero-Propulsion (FCAAP) serves the needs of a rapidly evolving and highly competitive aerospace industry. The Center is involved in the design and development of new technologies and products required to help sustain the Aerospace industry and to transition the technology to applications in a timely and efficient manner. FCAAP is looking for an energetic, detail oriented, go getter to fill the position of a Project/Research Engineer and assist the operation, maintenance and project management of Polysonic Wind Tunnel. Currently, this is an OPS position.


The successful candidate must be self motivated and possess the following qualifications.


Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering.
  • Advanced degree (MS) preferred but NOT required.



Experience and Skills

  • One year mechanical design experience involving loads/stress analysis.
  • Proficient in the most common design/drawing software, e.g. Solid Works, AutoCad or ProE, etc.
  • Experience with complex test facility/rig design and control design highly desirable.
  • Experience in Labview highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills - written and oral.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex design & development projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of clients and users.
  • Project management experience is a plus.



Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the design and stress analysis of wind tunnel models. Calibration and installation of various flow/ aero measurement sensors.
  • Responsible for data acquisition and processing instrumentation and programming.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the PSWT and high-pressure air supply system.
  • Assists Principal Investigators (PI) in directing individual project/programs.
