Job Description

Teledyne Scientific Company, the central Research Lab of Teledyne Technologies, is a cutting edge R&D organization with more than 60 years of legacy of new technology development and transition. The company has world class laboratories and facilities, and a highly dynamic, multi-disciplinary work environment.

Position Summary And Responsibilities

Teledyne Scientific Company has an immediate opening at its Thousand Oaks, California facility for a Research Scientist position in the Power and Thermal-fluids group. The group develops cutting-edge technologies in the areas of thermal management, energy storage, high energy laser components and subsystems, and micro-fluidics.

Essential Duties

  • Develop advanced power and thermal technologies for military and commercial applications
  • Design, develop, demonstrate, and validate prototype test units for new concepts
  • Work with team to understand system requirements, identify solution space and technology development path
  • Collaborate with management and technical team in advancing research initiatives and contributing to the development of innovative solutions

Qualifications, Desired Skills, Experience, And Qualities

  • Technical background in heat transfer, thermal management, fluid dynamics areas
  • Strong experimental background and hands-on laboratory experience
  • Passion for new technology development and creative thinking
  • Willingness to learn new topics/ subject areas
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with highly dynamic cross-functional project teams
  • Excellent technical judgment, data analysis, and interpretation skills
  • Knowledge of heat transfer/ fluid dynamics simulation tools, such as ANSYS Fluent or IcePak is a plus

Education

Recent M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical/ Aerospace Engineering or Physics with 0-5 years of relevant experience. Candidates with more experience are welcome to apply and the position will be adjusted accordingly.

Citizenship Requirements

Due to the type of work at the facility and certain access restrictions, successful applicants must be a U.S. Citizen.

Salary Range

$89,100.00-$120,230.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
