Overview Of Position
This is a coaching position for working with certificated staff. Preference is given for candidates who have previous experience coaching teachers.
Assists teachers in planning and implementing effective academic intervention strategies and learning activities; develops formative assessments for student learning; coordinates/conducts intervention activities with school intervention teams to identify student risk factors in the areas of academic and social/emotional domains; coordinates intervention strategies and professional development activities for teachers, and acts as a liaison between teachers, program specialists and instructional coaches.
NOTE: employees who primarily provide direct academic intervention to students, should be in the role of Academic Intervention Spec - Reading/Math, not Academic Intervention Spec - PD.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Education
Required:
Bachelor's degree in a major content area.
Preferred:
Master's degree and three (3) years of successful teaching experience, and one (1) year successful educational coaching experience or related experience mentoring/coaching adults.
Experience
Required:
Five (5) years successful teaching experience. One (1) year successful educational coaching experience or related experience mentoring/coaching adults.
Preferred:
Three (3) years successful teaching experience. One (1) year successful educational coaching experience or related experience mentoring/coaching adults.
Certifications & Licenses
Required:
Valid Washington State teacher certification.
Preferred:
Credentials in one or more of the core areas (Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies) preferred.

Criminal Justice fingerprint and background check

Eligibility for benefits is determined by the number of hours employees are anticipated to work during the school year (September 1 through August 31). Any employee who is scheduled to work 630 hours or more in a year is eligible for benefits.

- Assists in developing formative assessments for student learning.
- Coordinates/conducts intervention activities with school intervention teams and others to identify low, medium and high risk factors of students in the areas of academic and social/emotional domains.
- Maintains student records.
- Mentors new teachers.
- Facilitate the development of goals, objectives, and strategies through professional learning teams.
- Coordinates intervention strategies targeted at student needs.
- Coordinates professional development for teachers.
- Acts as liaison between teachers and program specialists and instructional coaches.

- Knowledge of district policies and procedures related to teaching
- Ability to provide instructional leadership
- Ability to coordinate and facilitate professional learning and teaching teams
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to effectively communication in speech and writing
- Ability to identify risk/protective factors of students and align effective intervention strategies/activities
- Ability to assess student progress
Education
