Job Description

BASIC FUNCTION:

The incumbent of this position serves as a School Based Behavioral Health Clinician for the HU School Based Behavioral Health Program and is responsible for providing the full range of psychological services and clinical assessments for students at partnering DC Public School and/or DC Public Charter School. They will also be responsible for intervention and prevention services to students, parents, and school staff.

Supervisory Accountability

May provide supervision for graduate level social work and/or counseling pre-professional students.

Nature And Scope

School Based Behavioral Health Clinicians play a pivotal role in the lives of the students they serve. Tasked with supporting students, parents and school staff, clinicians are expected to have a comprehensive approach to service provision. Clinicians are able to use their clinical-expertise to design and implement impactful programing for their identified school. Work will primarily take place within the school building. Nature of work requires flexibility, creativity and ingenuity. Clinicians reports directly to the Clinical Practice Supervisor.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Provides a full range of therapeutic services including individual, group, and family psychotherapy, involving a range from basic to the most complex student cases.
  • Makes recommendations and works closely with the treatment team members in establishing long and short-range goals for students.
  • Assures that there is a system for scheduling appointments, new patients, special problems and emergencies to ensure that students are handled consistently and scheduled for appointments in a manner that recognizes the urgency of their needs.
  • Attends weekly clinical meetings and monthly staff meetings.
  • Attends Parent/Teacher conferences, PTO mtgs, and other school sponsored activities as needed.
  • Develops treatment plans and documents interventions and outcomes in the HUSBBHP Electronic Health Record or in paper form as required.
  • Submits documentation to support billing for therapeutic work performed.
  • Develops monthly, quarterly and annual statistical, qualitative and quantitative reports, based upon casework and other student and family related data.
  • Maintains clinician caseload of 15-20 students and ensures quality of services.
  • Provides training for graduate level pre-professional students as needed.
  • Provides expert court testimony and serves as consultant to staff of other disciplines and agencies as needed.
  • Adheres to leave and attendance guidelines for HU-SBBHP staff.
  • Maintains up to date licensure and liability insurance.
  • Attends professional meetings and seminars to keep abreast of most recent school based behavioral health advances.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Core Competencies

  • Knowledge of mental health terminology, CPT and ICD-9 Coding
  • Knowledge of computer based electronic health records.
  • Knowledge of effective therapeutic modalities for youth.
  • Demonstrated skill in oral and written communications with ability to speak clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, employees, and the public.

Minimum Requirements

  • Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) and/or
  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and/or
  • Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) and/or
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and/or
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and/or
  • Licensed Psychologist

Compliance Salary Range Disclosure
