School Based Clinician

Applicants must be a Licensed Social Worker or be License in Mental Health Counseling in NYS. Candidate should have expertise in cognitive behavioral therapy and other evidenced based interventions to provide psychotherapy to students ranging from K through 12th grade. Students typically exhibit anxiety or depressive symptoms and may have concomitant learning issues such as a mild learning disability.
Applicants' primary responsibility will be to treat and students within our program and consult with teachers on appropriate methods to increase prosocial behavior within the community.
Responsibilities:
Located in the heart of Lincoln Center-NYC, Academics West is a high support college preparatory program that services up to 80 students from K through 12th grade. Our small student to teacher ratio (5:1:1) allows us to work more intensively with students, achieving good outcomes. Clinically Informed Academics (CIA) is an approach infused throughout the curriculum that considers the whole student to formulate effective individualized learning strategies. This approach combines clinical knowledge with academic interventions to help students improve beyond what traditional methods can achieve. Academics West mission is to help students become self-valuing productive adults.

Responsibilities:
- Provide evidence-based psychotherapy to our student body.
- Collaborate with Academics West school administrators as it relates to clinical issues of individual students
- Responsible for a caseload of up to 20 students
- Write progress notes on each student with appropriate treatment goals
- Consult with teachers on appropriate positive behavioral supports
- Collect data on student behaviors
- Respond to all parent concerns and student incidences and student life
- Provide behavioral parent training to parents and guardians
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to support students with therapeutic needs
- Participate in all school related programming (e.g., Field Trips, Art Show, Back to School Night)
- Support admissions process as needed by providing interview with students, parents and reaching out to outside providers
- Licensed Masters in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling in NYS
- 3-5 years of experience treating children and adolescent mental health issues using cognitive behavioral therapy and other evidenced-based interventions
- Excellent communicator
- Positive demeanor
- Prior experience with behavioral interventions is preferred
- Willingness to learn Crisis Prevention Intervention to deescalate student behaviors
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
