Camp will consist of staying overnight in cabin accommodation in Eureka, MO (meals and snacks provided) from 5:30 p.m. on Friday to 5 p.m. on Sunday the following 2024-2025 weekends: August 23, September 6 & 20, October 11 & 25, November 8 & 22, December 6, January 24, February 21, March 14 & 28, April 11 & 25, and May 2.

What You Will Do

The Camp Manager roles will provide a quality experience for individuals with developmental disabilities (13 years and up) at a residential camping facility for two weekends a month.

Assistant Camp Manager ($575/weekend) - assists in the implementation of leisure opportunities (e.g. team and individual sports, small and large group games, arts and crafts); the supervision of staff and participants, as well as providing direct support (i.e. dressing, showering, toileting, eating, transferring, and communication) to participants and other duties when needed. Weekend activities are designed to focus around the individuals’ personal goals and individualized support plan.

Camp Manager ($625/weekend) - In addition to the duties of the Assistant Camp Manager, the role will involve managing support staff by assisting with problem solving, conflict resolution, communication with parents, and maintaining a clean and positive atmosphere when the Coordinator is not present.

What We Expect Of You

The emphatic, patient leader we see is full of dedication and compassion with these qualifications:

  • Minimum of 18 years old
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (some college course work in special education, social work, occupational or recreation therapy, health and/or human services is helpful)
  • Three or more years of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or related camping experience
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background check (i.e. Missouri Family Care Safety Registry and Motor Vehicle Report)
  • Reliable vehicle, with valid driver's license and auto insurance
  • Ability to see, hear, bend, use stairs, lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder, and walk and/or stand for extended periods of time (6-8 hours)
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English fluently
  • Must be able to be flexible and calm in changing environments/plans and accept direction/corrections well.
  • CPR/FA/AED certification (provided by St. Louis Arc at no cost)
