Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. The Trust & Safety Safe Browsing team aims to make the world’s information safely accessible to all, and along with Safe Browsing Engineering we are responsible for protecting Internet users across the globe from phishing, social engineering, and malware. Safe Browsing systems provide defenses against these threats for Google products such as Gmail, Chrome, Search, and Ads. As part of Trust & Safety, we collaborate with abuse fighters across the company to identify and resolve the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products.
As a Security Analyst in Trust & Safety Safe Browsing, you will help the team protect Google’s users. You'll help increase the coverage, accuracy, and speed of Safe Browsing enforcement systems. You will work to understand the global threat environment for phishing, malware, and social engineering, and utilize cutting edge AI to expand our ability to protect users worldwide.

A diverse team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $117,000-$172,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.
- 2 years of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.
- 2 years of experience in data analysis, working with databases and querying (e.g., SQL, MySQL, R, Python, MapReduce, Hadoop).
- Master's degree in a quantitative discipline.
- Experience with abuse and fraud detection, web security research, or risk management.
- Experience in applying machine learning techniques to large datasets.
- Ability to prioritize competing stakeholder demands and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of how the internet works economically, socially, and technically, and domain knowledge or proven interest in security, phishing, malware, or related topics.
- Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities
- Perform complex data analyses to identify harmful entities, design and implement key performance metrics, examine trends, and identify system vulnerabilities. Analyze potentially malicious websites and software to understand their behavior and impact on users.
- Improve tools or systems by influencing key stakeholders with data and analysis. Improve classifiers using machine learning and GenAI. Enhance operational workflows via process improvements and automation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional groups such as Engineering, Product, and Legal to improve system accuracy, fix product loopholes, and provide users with a better online experience.
- Understand Google's product policy, enforcement, and risk strategy in order to identify key policy and enforcement operational successes, risks and inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Review or be exposed to graphic, controversial, and/or upsetting content in line with Google's policies.
