Senior Accountant

Reporting to the Controller and as part of NESN’s Finance team, this position is responsible for ensuring business transactions are reported in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. This position will have a lead role in the day-to-day general ledger accounting as well as NESN’s monthly close process. This position requires strong accounting aptitude, have well developed interpersonal skills, and be able to problem solve.

Please note: This position requires an onsite presence of 4 days per week with one day remote.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Responsible for multiple bank reconciliations for NESN & SportsNet Pittsburgh
  • Summarize timely financial status by collecting information for cash flow, balance sheet, and P&L
  • Cash flow modeling, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Track & record intercompany transactions
  • Ensure the accuracy of accounting information by recording, verifying, reconciling, consolidating, and entering transactions.
  • Verify proper expense coding for invoices & credit card transactions
  • Identify, recommend, and implement improved accounting and reporting processes.
  • Support timely completion of all external audits by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.
  • Support business processes and accounting policies and prepare corresponding documentation.
  • Partner with various business leads on expense tracking, accruals, and other matters
  • Successfully complete other related tasks and projects as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience; public accounting audit experience preferred.
  • Excellent MS Office skills, including advanced Excel.
  • Excellent organization & time management skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Knowledge of Broadcast Media industry's concepts, practices, and procedures a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains or other similar accounting systems
  • Effectively able to work cross-functionally within the organization.
  • Strong sense of pace and urgency; ensures work is completed in the expected timelines.
