What you will do
The Senior Field Applications Engineer provides technical support and applications analysis for the FTIR product line within Thermo Fisher's Environmental and Process Monitoring business unit. A successful candidate will evaluate and qualify gas analysis applications to broaden the scope of FTIR capabilities and knowledge base and support customer-facing marketing activities. As a crucial member of the product marketing team, Applications Engineers enable our customers to reduce emissions, make process decisions faster, improve product quality and protect the health of their employees!
Education/Experience
Masters Degree in Chemistry (or similar) or 10 years experience.
Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry (or similar), preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $107,000.00-$128,000.00.

What you will do
The Senior Field Applications Engineer provides technical support and applications analysis for the FTIR product line within Thermo Fisher's Environmental and Process Monitoring business unit. A successful candidate will evaluate and qualify gas analysis applications to broaden the scope of FTIR capabilities and knowledge base and support customer-facing marketing activities. As a crucial member of the product marketing team, Applications Engineers enable our customers to reduce emissions, make process decisions faster, improve product quality and protect the health of their employees!
- Identify likely areas of emerging applications and propose applications solutions to product management
- Work with R&D and the Product Manager on new product requirements and early system/performance testing
- Tackle customer partner concerns through in-depth troubleshooting
- Team with individual sales professionals to identify and cultivate new or target accounts, departments, key influencers according to sales plans.
- Generate technical sales collateral including customer presentations, application notes, and white papers on selected FTIR topics
- Prepare and present seminars to wide array of trade shows and technical conferences
- Prioritize projects and mentor junior colleagues
- Prepare and deliver customer and sales training presentations on various applications and product topics
- Lead product demonstrations showcasing Thermo Fisher Scientific's innovative FTIR technology and applications.
Education/Experience
Masters Degree in Chemistry (or similar) or 10 years experience.
Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry (or similar), preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Proficiency in FTIR spectroscopy is required
- Experience with gas analysis is required
- Experience with chemometrics is preferred
- Able to handle multi-tasking, deliveries, and timelines
- Excellent organization skill, detail oriented
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $107,000.00-$128,000.00.
