We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Automation Engineer to lead and manage complex automation projects at our facility in St Louis, MO. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in automation and project management to effectively oversee the design, installation, and quality testing of automation systems within a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) environment.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management: Lead the planning, design, and implementation of automation projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budget constraints, and quality standards.
Lifecycle Management: Oversee the complete lifecycle of automation projects, from concept through commissioning and maintenance.
Material and Budget Oversight: Develop and manage materials planning, budgeting, and cost control strategies to optimize project efficiency and minimize expenses.
Detailed Scheduling: Create and maintain comprehensive project schedules, ensuring all project phases are clearly outlined and adhered to.
Technical Problem Solving: Identify and resolve complex technical issues related to automation systems, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
Vendor Coordination: Interface with vendors to procure necessary parts, materials, and services, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with project specifications.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in automation engineering with a focus on project management.
Extensive experience with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), server upgrades, and DeltaV distributed control systems.
Proven track record of managing automation projects in a GMP environment.
Skills And Expertise
Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of data exchange, supervisory control (including SCADA systems and HMIs), historians, programming and configuration in control logic, and integration with enterprise systems.
Project Management: Exceptional project management skills with experience in creating detailed project plans and managing multiple priorities.
Problem Solving: Ability to address and resolve complex technical challenges.
Vendor Management: Skilled in negotiating and coordinating with vendors to ensure quality and timely delivery of materials and services.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail, ensuring all project aspects meet stringent technical and quality requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
PMP (Project Management Professional) or similar certification.
Experience with GMP regulatory requirements and compliance.
Advanced knowledge of DeltaV systems and server infrastructure in an industrial setting.
