Solomon Page is thrilled to bring a search for a Senior Communications Associate to the market. Our client is mission-oriented, and their clients includes federal, state, tribal, and local governments as well as universities, foundations, and nonprofits. The Senior Communications Associate will support technical staff across practice areas. The individual will help (1) translate complex research findings and program evaluations into clear, accessible products and (2) disseminate materials and key messages to target audiences. Some corporate communications support is required.


Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, researchers, and evaluators to produce high-quality technical documents, including reports, manuals, and policy briefs, for a variety of audiences
  • Provide structural and writing support on outlines and early drafts of products; tasks may range from compiling broad feedback to completing direct, heavy reorganization/writing across multiple product iterations
  • Synthesize complex research data and evaluation results into clear, coherent narratives presented across multiple formats (blogs, social media, podcasts, video)
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established company style guides and federal Plain Language guidelines in all written materials
  • Help create and implement plans that address projects’ dissemination goals, processes, and target audiences; available dissemination channels and platforms; and potential deliverables and timelines
  • Work closely with the communications lead and production and design specialist to monitor progress on items needing communications support and to proactively identify and address potential delays
  • Provide corporate communications support as needed (e.g., making requested updates to the website and social media accounts, contributing to companywide branding and marketing)
  • Contribute to the company's ongoing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly in areas related to language and messaging ​​​​​​​


Required Qualifications:


  • Minimum bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience or master’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience as a technical writer, editor, and/or dissemination specialist
  • Experience working closely with subject matter experts, researchers, and/or program evaluators to identify and communicate key messaging
  • Experience creating or overseeing the creation of products in various formats, including blog posts, listserv messages, social media posts, videos (preferred), and podcasts (preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail, including ability to provide quality assurance across multiple product iterations and authors
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and engaging manner
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple projects as an individual and as a team member
  • Ability to multitask effectively and produce high-quality work under time constraints
  • Understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion and how it is reflected in products
  • Knowledge of topics related to child welfare and child and family development, including common challenges and areas of innovation
  • Familiarity with style guides, including GPO, APA 7
  • Familiarity with or experience in federal contracting
  • Familiarity with data visualization best practices
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Working knowledge of WordPress, MailChimp, social media platforms, SharePoint, and the Adobe Creative Suite
