Location: Roanoke, Corporate Office; must be able to relocate, competitive relocation package offered. This is an onsite role without remote or hybrid options.


Position Overview:

The Senior Contract Manager at Virginia Transformer is responsible for managing the entire contract lifecycle, including negotiations, execution, and compliance. This role is vital for ensuring that all contracts with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors adhere to legal requirements and company policies. The Senior Contract Manager will play a key role in mitigating risks, negotiating favorable terms, and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders. This position requires a deep understanding of contract law, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to provide strategic guidance on contract-related matters.


Key Responsibilities:


Contract Lifecycle Management:

  • Oversee and manage all stages of contract development, including drafting, negotiation, execution, and compliance.
  • Ensure contracts are aligned with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Maintain a repository of all executed contracts and manage contract renewals and amendments.


Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Identify potential contractual risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure contract compliance and address any discrepancies.


Negotiation and Relationship Management:

  • Lead negotiations with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors to secure favorable terms.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Act as a point of contact for resolving contract-related disputes and issues.


Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor a team of contract managers and administrators.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture within the team.
  • Provide guidance and training to ensure team members are well-versed in contract management best practices.


Strategic Guidance and Collaboration:

  • Provide strategic advice to senior management on contract-related matters.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as legal, finance, procurement, and operations to ensure seamless contract management processes.
  • Support business units in understanding contract terms and conditions and their implications.


Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive continuous improvements in contract management processes and systems.
  • Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in contract management.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes affecting contract management.


Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of all contract-related activities and documentation.
  • Prepare and present reports on contract status, compliance, and performance to senior management.
  • Ensure all contract-related data is accurate, up-to-date, and readily accessible.


Industry-Specific Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations and standards.
  • Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations that may impact contract management.
  • Ensure that contracts reflect current industry practices and compliance requirements.


Travel and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Travel as necessary to support contract negotiations and stakeholder engagements.
  • Represent Virginia Transformer at industry events and conferences.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or advanced certification in Contract Management or a related field is preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience in contract management or a related role, with significant experience in drafting, negotiating, and managing contracts.
  • Experience in the manufacturing or energy sectors is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing and mentoring teams.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in contract management software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Thorough understanding of contract law and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, procurement, and operations.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance standards.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary to support contract negotiations and stakeholder engagements.
