Job Description And Duties

The Southern California Cleanup Branch is looking for a highly motivated Supervisory Engineering Geologist with experience in directing environmental investigations and cleanup to supervise and lead a team of multidisciplinary professionals responsible for overseeing environmental investigations and cleanup activities at properties where hazardous materials, substances or waste were released into the environment.

As a Senior Engineering Geologist (Sup) you will have the opportunity to:

  • Perform the full range of supervisory and management duties, including, but not limited to: interprets and adheres to state and federal laws, rules, regulations, bargaining unit contracts and policies in all personnel practices
  • Provide direction and guidance regarding work assignments and daily work activities to ensure timely completion of assignments
  • Review work and evaluate performance of staff by providing regular feedback and completing timely probationary reports, annual performance appraisals, and individual development plans
  • Monitor employee performance and, if necessary, utilize progressive discipline principles and procedures
  • Complete personnel documentation and utilizes competitive hiring process
  • Approve or deny administrative requests including leave, overtime, travel, and training

Desirable Qualifications We Look For:

  • P.G License in Geology, Engineering Geology or Hydrogeology
  • Site Investigation, Hazardous Waste Management, Cleanup, Remedial Design and Optimization
  • Project Management
  • Technical Document Preparation, Analysis & Review
  • DTSC or State or Regional Water Quality Control Board Regulatory oversight experience
  • Interacting w/Public, Local, Federal, and/or State Agencies
  • Communicating Technical Information
