Spencer Ogden has partnered with a utility-scale solar developer and IPP who are seeking a skilled Reliability Engineer/Senior Reliability Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, efficiency, and reliability of our client's solar energy assets. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies for asset management, while maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Conduct equipment risk assessments and manage inventory standards.
  • Perform failure prediction using statistical methods such as Weibull analysis.
  • Support the integration and utilization of asset management software.
  • Identify and resolve performance issues through process development.
  • Establish standards for aerial thermography, incorporating drone technology where applicable.
  • Apply advanced data science, machine learning, and AI techniques to enhance asset performance.
  • Work closely with various teams to drive operational excellence.
  • Create and implement technical procedures and processes.
  • Facilitate effective communication channels to support project lifecycles.
  • Develop strategies to address extreme weather and natural catastrophes.
  • Assist in the commissioning processes and the development of standards.
  • Contribute to strategies for panel recycling and decommissioning.
  • Provide technical reporting on project and department performance.
  • Communicate performance and reliability metrics to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Support regulatory compliance efforts, including those related to FERC, NERC, and other bodies.
  • Represent the company at industry events and stakeholder meetings.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in the renewable energy sector.
  • Deep understanding of solar energy technology and operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Self-motivated and capable of leading in challenging environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Excel.
  • Experience with PVSyst or similar tools.
  • Skilled in data analysis, statistical modeling, and data visualization (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB, Power BI).
  • Familiarity with statistical methods like Weibull analysis for failure modeling.
  • Experience with failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) or Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action Systems (FRACAS).
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, such as NERC.
