Cloud FinOps Engineer
Position Overview
As a Cloud FinOps Engineer you are responsible for collecting and analyzing financial information related to the organization’s cloud expenses, seeking ways to improve the accuracy of budgets and forecasts, and saving the cost of assigned departments and projects. You will work as part of a team to implement and maintain FinOps practices and methodologies, with a focus on analyzing cloud usage and spending data to identify areas for cost optimization. In addition, you are responsible for overseeing the planning and implementation of cloud strategies for services within our various cloud environments, including guidance on deployment best practices, governance, and cost-management policies. You are required to possess excellent math, accounting, and analytical skills to succeed. In terms of academic qualifications, cost analysts have a bachelor's degree with strong business or financial training, such as finance, accounting, or business administration.

Cloud FinOps Engineer
Position Overview
As a Cloud FinOps Engineer you are responsible for collecting and analyzing financial information related to the organization’s cloud expenses, seeking ways to improve the accuracy of budgets and forecasts, and saving the cost of assigned departments and projects. You will work as part of a team to implement and maintain FinOps practices and methodologies, with a focus on analyzing cloud usage and spending data to identify areas for cost optimization. In addition, you are responsible for overseeing the planning and implementation of cloud strategies for services within our various cloud environments, including guidance on deployment best practices, governance, and cost-management policies. Responsibilities
- Analyze cloud data to identify cost optimization and usage opportunities and create specific recommendations; review those recommendations with clients
- Monitor and report on cloud usage against budget and forecast, explore trends in cloud spend
- Create reports, dashboards and alerts to track spending and usage trends and the potential impact of cost optimizations
- Closely partner with Engineering teams to understand Cloud business processes and cost drivers
- Where needed, assist in implementing, maintaining and governing the FinOps service
- Work with the technical teams (both internal and client) to ensure proper tagging and allocation of cloud resources for accurate cost tracking and reporting (both initially and ongoing)
- Monitor cloud consumption at the account level to detect, investigate, and escalate anomalies and unplanned spikes.
- Work with the Finance Controller to ensure cloud billing data is processed and billed correctly
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in Cloud FinOps engineering analysis and Cloud cost optimization
- 4+ years in cloud operations role managing Cloud environments, budgets, forecasts and implementing financial controls.
- Ability to query, analyze and summarize data efficiently and accurately
- Ability to communicate effectively and deliver presentations to leaders
- Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Basic knowledge of public cloud players (e.g., at minimum, AWS & Azure)
- Understanding of cloud cost management tools (Apptio’s Cloudability preferred)
- Experience in cloud cost management or relevant work experience
- FinOps Practitioner Certification
