Role Overview: The Solution Engineer plays a pivotal role in Wicket’s pre-sales process, interacting with Wicket’s customers and the Company’s Sales and Product teams. The individual will work closely to understand and interpret customer needs, map these to Wicket’s product capabilities, and develop tailored solutions where required. A high degree of business and technical aptitude is required to conceive, construct, and present compelling solutions to prospective customers in the sports, entertainment, and conferences/tradeshow industries, and beyond.


Key Responsibilities:

Client Engagement:

  • As the Sales team identifies customers with non-standard needs - for example, new integrations, new workflows, or new use cases - be readily brought into client-facing discussions as a “can-do” Wicket solutions expert.
  • Effective at understanding a customer’s business, their key value drivers, and their pain points / sensitivities.
  • Capture client needs concisely and reliably.
  • Build a friendly rapport with client counterparts; become a trusted point of contact for them at Wicket when discussing solution specifics.

Solution Development:

  • Create Gap Analysis documents based on the delta between a) specific customer requirements and b) Wicket’s product stack.
  • Design and propose customized solutions that address these gaps, which may include drafting (eg) high-level technical architectures, integrations, workflows, and UI wireframes.  
  • Work with Wicket’s Product team to create and cost work estimates for specific solutions.
  • Review these solutions with clients and Wicket colleagues; iterate solutions based on feedback.
  • Present rationale showing how the proposed solutions meet client needs and deliver value.

Support Sales & Product Strategies:

  • Assist in developing and executing sales strategies to penetrate the sports, entertainment, and conferences/tradeshow markets.
  • Provide technical expertise during sales calls, meetings, and trade shows.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create technical content for promotional materials and campaigns.
  • Provide insights to the Wicket Product team based on customer conversations and feedback.

Post-Sales Transition:

  • Facilitate a smooth transition from sales to implementation by providing detailed handover documentation related to customer-specific solutions to the delivery team.
  • Support initial client onboarding and training to ensure successful deployment of Wicket’s solutions.


Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years proven experience in a pre-sales solution engineering role within the software industry, with references to support.
  • Has traveled regularly within the US for client-facing meetings and industry events.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience in lieu.
  • Experience working with clients in the sports, entertainment, and/or conferences / tradeshows industries is desirable.
  • Experience in facial authentication or facial recognition software is also desirable

  • Technical Acumen: Deep understanding of software technology, integrations, and IT infrastructure. (Appreciation of the utility and mechanics of facial authentication / recognition technology is desirable, but not required).
  • Customer Focus: Ability to understand and anticipate client needs, providing solutions that deliver real value.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: Be comfortable in a small team environment; be willing to wear multiple hats as needed.
