(Sr.) Accountant

Role Summary
Genesis Therapeutics is pioneering artificial intelligence guided rational drug design to address severe unmet medical needs for patients. We are hiring an experienced (Sr.) Accountant to join our company in our San Diego, California location. This is an exciting position with the opportunity to play a key role in building and managing the company’s accounting and operations functions. This position reports directly to the Controller.

Maintains the general ledger and performs monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close process

• Reconciles accounts including cash, prepaid accounts, fixed assets, accruals, etc.
• Analyzes account balances and maintains support for the reconciled balances
• Conducts research of variances and proposes resolution
  
  
  
  
  

Responsible for all aspects of accounts payable function

• Serves as the primary point of contact for AP
• Processes and records all accounts payable transactions
• Handles weekly check runs
• Reviews credit card transactions to ensure proper coding
  
  
  
  
  

Participates actively in the annual financial audit process

• Interacts with the auditors on audit requests
• Assists with preparation of schedules and compiling records for the audit
  
  
  
  
  

Other Responsibilities

• Assists in due diligence activities and special projects as needed
• Performs other duties as may be assigned, including responding to vendor information requests, generating Purchase Order, updating data sheet and working on special projects
  
  
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Biotech company experience preferred but not required
• Strong knowledge and understanding of U.S. GAAP a plus
• Exercises strong judgment and integrity
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively across a diverse range of departments and levels including executive management
• Ability to proactively identify accounting issues and take the initiative to solve challenges
