Summary

The Senior Acoustic Design Engineer has a strong background in acoustics, sound engineering, and/or noise control and is responsible for designing and implementing solutions to reduce cabin noise and enhance overall acoustical performance. The person in this role collaborates with cross-functional teams, conducts acoustic measurements, and provides guidance to improve product and environment soundscapes. The role requires expertise in acoustic modeling software, knowledge of industry standards, and a passion for creating optimal auditory experiences.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct acoustic assessments and measurements to analyze sound profiles.
  • Design and implement solutions to improve sound quality and reduce noise levels.
  • Provide guidance and feedback to other engineering disciplines on acoustical design considerations.
  • Utilize acoustic modeling software for simulations and predictions.
  • Research and stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Provide technical expertise in meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Develop and implement testing protocols to validate acoustical performance.
  • Troubleshoot and address acoustical issues with components and aircraft cabins.
  • Ensures designs meet customer criteria, quality standards, and FAA requirements.
  • May perform as functional ‘Lead’ for group on specific projects.
  • Adheres to budget and project schedules.
  • Maintains regular attendance including being at work, being on time to work and working full shifts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summary of Education, Experience & Certification

Bachelor's (B.S.) degree in Acoustic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Aviation background and aircraft interior experience desired.

Employees working on programs subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations must qualify as a US Person which is defined as a US Citizen, a Permanent Resident who does not work for a foreign company/foreign government/foreign governmental agency or organization, or a political asylee for legal compliance purposes.


Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proven experience in acoustics, sound engineering, or noise control.
  • Proficiency in acoustic modeling software (e.g., COMSOL, ANSYS).
  • Ability to check engineering drawings for Fit, Form and Function.
  • Ability to coach and motivate team of engineers.
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
  • Budget and project management experience.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and motivate teammates in productive and efficient manner.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality acoustical solutions.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time, use hands to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and have close/color vision ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Ability to work outside of core business hours as required.


The expected WA salary range for this position is between $109,424.00 - $150,458.00 USD. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, education, location, and other factors permitted by law.
