Sr. Business Manager / Controller

Currently seeking a senior manager for a citrus farming operation and wholesale nursery with over 900 acres on the NW outskirts of Vero Beach, Florida. The nursery provides the landscape industry with over 75 different varieties of trees & shrubs and is the preferred producer for major Florida developers and installers. The company also has smaller operations in other agricultural ventures.

Seeking a full-time Senior Business Manager and Controller reporting directly to the CEO with responsibilities covering a range of duties related to the oversight of operations and management of the company. Additional managerial oversight includes HR, insurance, loans and government grants.  The Sr. Business Manager will ensure all financial, project and operations timelines are met and work closely with the CEO, staff and outside accounting firm to maximize operational efficiency and profitability.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include:  

·      Implementation and oversight of financial and operational company-wide calendars and procedures to ensure all

projects and financial deadlines are met

·      Oversight of daily cash (AR/AP), with daily and weekly reporting to CEO

·      Collaboration with Accounting firm on general ledger and year-end tax reporting

·      Oversight of accounting for multiple business lines

·      Financial analysis of business lines as needed

·      Leases and loan payments and compliance

·      Government grants administration and compliance

·      Insurance claim administration, renewals of Business Operation Policy, Workers Comp, etc.

·      Systems security of Quickbooks and other IT

·      Review and administer Health Benefit programs and other employee benefits

·      Development and implementation of HR Handbook with policies/procedures and annual training to ensure

compliance across all business lines.

·      Special projects as assigned

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

·      BA or BS, in accounting and/or business, project management coursework preferred

·      At least 5 years of experience at a managerial level handling operations at small company or division

·      Fully proficient in Quickbooks (for PC/Mac)

·      Fully proficient in Excel

·      Prior experience securing and administering government grants.

·      Demonstrated excellent communication skills both verbal and written

·      Willingness to work in a small office environment in a rural setting

·      Demonstrated ability to manage people and achieve timely project deliverables

·      Ethical, self-motivated, flexible, organized, problem solver
