Sr Drayage Manager

Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and direction to a remotely distributed, high-performing team of managers and individual contributors, through masterful training and career development.
• Direct, inspire, coach, and motivate Drayage Specialists to take ownership of the customer demands and execute best practices to meet the needs of the organization to exceed performance standards and goals.
• Design operational processes and infrastructure to ensure Direct Traffic Solutions executes quality service delivery on-time, efficiently, cost-effectively and consistently delivers world-class experience to our partners.
• Responsible for monitoring and improving overall cost-to-serve while maintaining a high level of client satisfaction. The ideal candidate will grow operations in a manner that innovatively decouples scale and headcount.
• Own performance management of Drayage Operations by designing the right processes and metrics for shipments to move “on-time” and exceptions be resolved quickly and appropriately.
• Establish a culture of “service excellence everywhere” among our Drayage operations team.
• Ensure that the Ops team and carriers are effectively managed and held accountable through measurement of performance and continuous improvement, including delivery performance, quality assurance, cost reduction/control, and response time.
• Develop, understand, manage, and report customer and company KPI’s to stakeholders.
• Actively engage with company warehouses, terminals, and customers to ensure excellence in service.
• Manage import flows including last free days and mitigation of detention/demurrage.
• Develop and manage strong partnerships with drayage carriers, Freight Forwarders, Ports, Steamship Lines and Container Yards for planning and addressing shipping issues.
• Negotiate rates, drayage capacities, establish carrier KPI’s, communicate carrier expectations, report daily success to management.
• Manage dispatch teams at multiple port locations and virtually for Drayage.
• Develop processes and procedures for teams to ensure success of proper servicing of customer demands.

Job Requirements:

• Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in Drayage operations, with at least 3 years of experience specifically in the 3PL industry.
• Deep understanding of the logistics industry, including supply chain management, transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
• Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and concepts effectively.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, draw insights, and make data-driven decisions.
• Creative thinker with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
