Job Summary: The Senior Process Control Engineer is responsible for maintaining and supporting every aspect of the mill’s process control network and infrastructure. The Senior Process Control Engineer guides solutions for maintenance and operations, designs and manages the process control infrastructure, upgrades equipment using process best practices, and drives the completion of process control projects.

How You Will Impact Westrock

• Responsible in providing design, implementation, and support for existing and new Process Control systems. This includes Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s), as well as custom control applications used to meet manufacturing needs and production goals.
• Responsible for system backups, network troubleshooting, and computer hardware maintenance.
• Required to communicate and work with various operational, environmental, maintenance and engineering levels in a team environment yet be self-motivated and accomplish individual goals.
• Ability to communicate in both oral and written form. Must have the skills necessary to perform project scope definitions and manage a wide variety of technical projects. Must be willing to be on-call to support production needs.
• Develop and execute migration plans for legacy controls platforms.
• Ability to evaluate processes and equipment operation; plan and manage process improvement projects.
• Ability to read and understand P&ID’s loop sheets, and electrical drawings
  
  

Technical Skills

• Electrical/Instrumentation knowledge
• Advanced computer and IT/networking skills including experience with the following:
• Windows hardware and software knowledge
• Multi-level networks
• Virtualization
• Project Management skills and tools
• Ability to read documentation and diagrams related to various hardware, software, and wiring (e.g. piping and instrumentation diagrams - P&ID's)
  
  

Experience

• Required: Minimum of two years of industrial experience (with degree), or 10 years plus of industrial experience in PLC and HMI applications would be required if non-degreed .
• Preferred: Background in electrical engineering or instrumentation
• Preferred: Work experience in IT, networking, and/or controls
• Preferred: Experience working in a 24/7 call environment
  
  

Education

• Required: Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Electrical Engineering is preferred; Industrial Instrumentation degree with focus in networking and IT or Computer Science degree are acceptable given work experience
• Preferred: Honeywell training/certification
• Preferred: IT training/certifications
