About the Role:

We are seeking an innovative, self-motivated, and team-oriented Senior Research Associate / Associate Scientist in Bioengineering, with a passion for working on advanced technology development projects at the intersection of biology, synthetic biology, and microfluidics. In your role, you will support our cross-functional teams by executing, analyzing, and presenting experiments to drive platform activities and our R&D programs. You will work closely with the protein engineering and single-cell science teams with a focus on developing functional screening assays. As a member of a growing and engaged team, you will have the opportunity to take part in leading innovative research and development, and work with a highly skilled multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced startup environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, plan and execute experiments to support research activities, project goals and platform development,
  • Design, develop and optimize droplet-based microfluidics workflow,
  • Conduct and support biomolecular experiments and assay development with high precision and reliability,
  • Develop, characterize, and optimize surface chemistries to conjugate biomolecules (proteins, enzymes, DNA, RNA etc.),
  • Contribute to projects through data generation, analysis, interpretation, and presentation,
  • Maintain detailed electronic lab notebook, and
  • Follow Standard Operating Protocols and generate new ones when necessary.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • BS/BA or MS/MA in Bioengineering, Biological/Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field with 3+ years of industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience with the operation of droplet-based microfluidic systems, especially for biological assays.
  • Experience in microscopy and image analysis using Python, R, ImageJ etc.
  • Hands-on experience with surface chemistry, colloid science, and bioconjugation techniques, especially related to functionalization, conjugation of biomolecules and passivation.
  • Hands-on experience with automation and the development of high-throughput assays
  • Experience in biological techniques such as cell culture, PCR etc. would be a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced startup environment,
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and adept at building strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
