Job Description:

ANGARAI's Steel and Welding Inspector is responsible for ensuring that welding processes and steel construction projects meet industry standards, codes, and regulations. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity and safety of structures and components made of steel, which are prevalent in various industries including construction, manufacturing, and infrastructure development.

Major Roles and Responsibilities:

The roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Inspecting Welding Processes: Evaluate welding techniques and procedures to ensure they adhere to established industry standards and codes. Verify the qualifications and certifications of welders and welding procedures.
  • Material Inspection: Examine steel materials for quality, conformance, and compliance with specifications. Inspect incoming steel shipments for defects, damage, and proper handling.
  • Visual Inspection: Conduct visual inspections of welds to identify discontinuities, defects, and deviations from standards. Document and report any non-conformities or discrepancies.
  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Perform NDT techniques such as ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, magnetic particle testing, and dye penetrant testing to identify hidden defects in welds.
  • Documenting and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of inspections, including photographs, reports, and documentation of findings. Prepare and submit inspection reports to project stakeholders.
  • Code Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards such as AWS (American Welding Society), ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), and API (American Petroleum Institute).
  • Safety and Quality Assurance: Monitor safety practices during welding operations to prevent accidents and hazards. Recommend corrective actions to rectify quality deficiencies.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with engineers, contractors, and project managers to address any issues related to welding and steel construction. Provide technical expertise and guidance on welding processes.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve issues related to welding quality and steel fabrication processes. Propose corrective actions and verify their effectiveness.
  • Continual Learning and Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to steel and welding inspections.

Minimum Qualification and skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent in welding technology, metallurgy, or a related field.
  • Must possess ICC certification from American Welding Society.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in welding, steel fabrication, or inspection.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry codes, standards, and NDT techniques is essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are important for preparing reports and communicating with project teams.
  • Precision and thoroughness in inspecting welds and steel materials are critical for this role.
  • Understanding and promoting safety protocols is crucial to prevent accidents and injuries.
