Duties
As a STUDENT TRAINEE (PUBLIC AFFAIRS) at the GS-1099-5/7 some of your typical work assignments may include:

Eligibility Requirements: Current students enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate.
Students must be taking at least half-time course load, as defined by your school and remain in good academic standing in accordance with the Pathways Participant Agreement.
Students must be enrolled with at least 6 semester hours or 9 credit hours, with a GPA of at least 2.0.
You may qualify at the GS-05 grade level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

You MUST provide transcripts or other documentation to support your educational claims. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable at time of application.
All materials must be submitted by the closing date of the announcement.
GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
FOREIGN EDUCATION may be qualifying if a private organization specializing in interpreting foreign education programs has deemed the foreign education equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program or a U.S. accredited college or university has given full credit for the foreign courses.
Unofficial transcripts from U.S. Department of Education accredited colleges, universities, schools, or institutions listing your name, the name of the school, the date and degree awarded, and the list of classes and credits earned are acceptable for the application process. If selected, official transcripts are required before a firm job offer is made. A photocopy of your degree/diploma is not acceptable.
When relying on foreign education, submit transcripts and a copy of the equivalency evaluation results letter with a course-by-course listing. Documents must be in English or include an English translation. The hiring employer for this position does not evaluate degrees from foreign colleges or universities. As a STUDENT TRAINEE (PUBLIC AFFAIRS) at the GS-1099-5/7 some of your typical work assignments may include:
- Performs clerical tasks to include but not limited to managing public relations materials and files, calendars and media lists, and requests for information.
- Utilizes the JAMRS image library to advise on image selections in communications materials.
- With a developing grasp of brand guidelines, assets available and parameters, the incumbent will develop information, participate in identifying communication needs and support first round reviews on deliverables by the contracted ad agency.
- Assists in developing social media posts, written copy for websites, print magazine, and internal and external presentations. Responsible for assisting senior staff members in developing or assembling informational content, whether for social media efforts, presentations, or responses to JAMRS stakeholders and media inquiries. This includes working with social media platforms, journalistic writing, editing, page design, the printing process, imaging processes, and all photographic and video images.
- Assists senior staff in analysis and evaluation studies. Based on a developed understanding of JAMRS' marketing communications strategy, the incumbent will play a supporting role in evaluating monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports from the contracted ad agency and offer insights on potential emerging trends, questions to ask, or potential efficiencies to explore. This analysis will inform the direction of future work through formal and informal recommendations to senior staff.

- Must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a degree-seeking student (proof of enrollment is required with your application package).
- Remain in good academic standing in accordance with Participant Agreement. Failure to do so will result in termination of employment.
- Transcript must state major, earned credit hours, and cumulative GPA of at least a 2.0, and must include school and student identification on them or they will NOT be considered.

- This position requires a Non- Critical Sensitive clearance.
- Will be required to sign a pathways student agreement.

- Assists in providing administrative and information management support relative to public affairs' operations.
- Assists in developing content for social media posts, presentations, or responses to stakeholders and media inquiries.

- Complete at least 480 hours of work experience ( 320 hours if they receive a waiver) acquired through the Program while enrolled as a half or full-time degree or certificate seeking student.
- Complete a course of academic study, within the preceding 180 day period, at a qualifying educational institution conferring a diploma, certificate or degree
- Meet the qualification standards for the position to which they will be converted.
- Receive a favorable recommendation by an official of the agency or agencies which they served and
- Meet agency- specific requirements as specified in the participant agreement.
