What You’ll Do:

As the Supply Chain Manager, you will play a crucial role in the logistics and operations of JCB’s new plant in San Antonio. Your responsibilities will include:

Logistics Strategy Development:

  • Develop comprehensive logistics strategies to support the operational needs of the new plant, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
  • Analyze supply chain networks and recommend optimal transportation routes, warehouse locations, and distribution channels to streamline operations and reduce costs.

Vendor and Carrier Management:

  • Evaluate and select vendors, carriers, and third-party logistics providers (3PLs) based on performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Negotiate contracts and service agreements to ensure favorable terms and conditions.

Inventory and Transportation Management:

  • Implement inventory control measures to optimize inventory levels, minimize stockouts, and reduce carrying costs while ensuring product availability and order fulfillment.
  • Develop transportation plans and schedules to maximize efficiency and minimize transportation costs. Utilize route optimization software to optimize delivery routes and consolidate shipments.

Warehouse Operations Management:

  • Oversee warehouse processes and collaborate with the operations team to ensure best practices in receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping activities.
  • Implement measures with the warehouse team to ensure efficiency and accuracy.

Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement:

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track logistics performance, identify trends, and measure the effectiveness of logistics initiatives.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions as needed. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance logistics processes, streamline operations, and increase productivity.

Financial Visibility and Stakeholder Management:

  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities and follow up on billing needs for the account. Provide visibility to the customer on the statement of accounts.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure adequate support and view JCB as a partner of choice.

Leadership and Talent Management:

  • Cultivate a team culture of ownership and continuous improvement. Drive engagement in the team through coaching and development.
  • Responsible for hiring processes and talent development to ensure a robust succession plan and people growth.

What We’re Looking For:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Supply Chain Manager who can thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment. The ideal candidate will have:

Experience and Expertise:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain management and logistics, preferably within a 3PL logistics consulting firm or global corporation.
  • Consultative experience in logistics demonstrating a customer-centric mindset in direct customer engagements.
  • Subject matter expertise in supply chains of major industry verticals, with a preference for industrial or automotive sectors.

Educational Background:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in business, supply chain, or a similar discipline is required.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is essential. Multilingual abilities are highly desirable.

Technical Skills and Competencies:

  • Expertise in supply chain modeling and analysis, with a good knowledge of supply chain optimization methodologies and tools.
  • Competence in creating written business case recommendations encompassing financial, service, risk, and sustainability factors.
  • Familiarity with Maersk policies and processes, and all applicable Maersk systems and processes.

Operational Efficiency and Customer Service:

  • Experience in managing large operations/customer service teams in the logistics sector.
  • Understanding of legal and commercial frameworks related to contracts of carriage for air, FCL, LCL, intermodal transport, and international trade.
  • Passion for customer service and cost management with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Relationship Management and Communication:

  • Ability to work and thrive in a flexible matrix organization with a focus on networking and collaboration.
  • Proficiency in stakeholder management with the capability to build strong networks and influence decision-makers.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to communicate effectively in a diverse, multicultural environment.

  • A sense of urgency and the ability to drive issues to closure despite obstacles and opposition.
  • Well-organized when working under pressure and resilient to change, comfortable with fast-shifting priorities, workloads, and responsibilities.
