System Engineer

Job Description

Responsibilities:

Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure

Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools

Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability

Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes

Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies

Creates and manages system capacity plans.

Leads, or participates, in installation and configuration activities.

Develops and maintains procedures and system documentation.

Performs systems resource optimization activities.

Conduct research on industry trends, emerging technologies, software, and systems products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.

Keeps IT management abreast of any changes across multiple technologies which may impact business decisions.

Key Qualifications:

Extensive Linux experience, especially with RHEL or compatible systems like CentOS

Excellent documentation skills for systems cookbooks

Experience with programming languages like Python

Solid understanding of Git Operations

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Bachelor’s in computer science, IT or any other field.
