Location: Remote with potential for some onsite in Boston, MA and travel to Palo Alto, CA once every couple months

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Healthcare System Architect to join our team. As a Healthcare System Architect, you will be responsible for designing and implementing architecture solutions to meet the unique needs and challenges of healthcare customers. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders, including healthcare providers, IT teams, and business leaders, to develop innovative and scalable solutions that improve patient care, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree, Required

Work Experience

  • 8+ years of experience with EMR/EHRs, Epic required.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and microservices architecture.
  • Experience working with clinical data formats, including SMART on FHIR, FHIR, HL7, DICOM, Clarity
  • Experience with integration engines such as Cloverleaf, Rhapsody, Redox
  • Preferred: Epic Bridges Certification or another equivalent Epic systems administrator certification
  • Experience with programming languages such as SQL and Python
  • Experience with additional EMRs

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Effective verbal, written, and diagrammatic communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the required job processes.
  • Technical knowledge of systems development life cycle (SDLC) with a solid understanding of challenges associated with the implementation of imaging systems and applications from initial concept through development, testing, implementation, and operational support.
  • Technical knowledge of multiple Epic and non-Epic applications, clinical data integration, interoperability standards, SQL scripting.
  • Technical knowledge of Epic Reporting Workbench, Dashboard and Clarity report build and other application reports used to measure ongoing project success.
  • Operational or clinical expertise, technical integration skills, and ability to understand and interpret technological impact to clinical operations including risk management, change management, configuration management, business continuity, safety and analytics.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders, SMEs, peers and leadership to develop solutions and secure stakeholder support and to plan and lead medium to large, complex, and innovative HIT projects.
  • Excellent project management, time management, and organization skills and ability to work independently, prioritize, adjust schedule as needed, take initiative, escalate appropriately, remain accountable for achieving results, and perform Gap analyses.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, and research skills and ability to accurately analyze information, make sound decisions and provide build recommendations with the understanding of downstream effects for the Epic EMR and other ancillary systems.
  • Ability to travel to client facilities.

Job Duties

  • Act as a subject matter expert on healthcare industry standards, clinical EHR workflows and best practices, regulations, security and compliance requirements, such as HIPAA, HL7, and ICD-10.
  • Define and maintain the overall architecture vision and strategy for deploying SaaS or on-prem software to healthcare systems, applications, and infrastructure.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into architectural designs and technical specifications.
  • Develop comprehensive architectural blueprints and roadmaps that align with business objectives and priorities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure architectural consistency and integration across all healthcare IT systems and platforms.
  • Conduct architecture reviews and audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to best practices and standards.
  • Works with business owners, subject matter experts, and technical experts to evaluate interoperability solutions and assist in decision recommendations.
  • Cultivates and designs innovative solutions in accordance with emerging technologies and best practices.
  • Researches and analyzes business needs and competitive nature for project implications and shares knowledge.
  • Supports all projects in accordance with service level agreements and ensures that completed projects are transitioned to and supported by appropriate teams.
