The Katherine Thomas School Program serves students in grades K-8 with language and learning challenges, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments. KTS has an opportunity for a few full-time (10-month position) Special Education Elementary and Middle School Teaching Assistants (TA) beginning with the 2024/2025 school year. Teaching Assistant Position Responsibilities Include
Assist teachers in implementing content area curricula
Guide and assist students in the classroom in following the teachers instruction and school/program rules
Provide necessary accommodations to meet individual, group, and program needs
Create a supportive learning environment
Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
Document student progress through written notes and narrative reports
Required Experience
Required Experience for the Teaching Assistant:
MUST have a Bachelors Degree
Experience with students with learning disabilities, Autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairment preferred
Knowledge of education and behavior management methods, procedures, and techniques helpful
Must be reliable, maintain a professional attitude, and be team oriented
Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly
